Career and Life Planning
Our Belief
Every child is unique, and we believe that everyone has different abilities and talents.Careers hopes to provide appropriate interventions for students at different stages in order to help students understand their own self, develop their potentials and set their own life goals and plans accordingly. The interventions for students include providing information for further studies, employment, courses, assessments, counselling, experiential activities, individual transition plans and support, internship programmes, mentorships, and job hunting.
Aims
Through different interventions, we hope to:
-
build up students’ confidence;
-
instill them with positive values;
-
teach them how to make informed choices;
-
get them well-prepared to transit from secondary school life to vocational training institutions, or adult life; and
-
enabling students to lead a meaningful life.
In practice
When designing and evaluating the school-based interventions, we will refer to the three elements of life planning suggested by the Education Bureau, including:
-
Self-understanding and Development
-
Career Exploration
-
Career Planning and Management
We also make reference to literature and experience from other countries in implementing special education life planning programmes.
Considering the needs of students with special learning needs, we believed that life skills training is essential to their life planning. Thus, it is also included in our life planning education, which is shown below:
