Supporting Services for Non-Chineses Speaking Students(NCS)

Aims of the programme:
 

• The EDB has worked to increase the support for integration of NCS students in school life. Thus, subsidies (funding for NCS students) are offered to schools for extra recruitment of staff to set up Chinese learning groups for NCS students. Systematic training courses are also provided to the teachers to teach them relevant skills and strategies in teaching NCS students.

• The school’s Chinese teachers actively implement skills obtained from trainings and make justifications in the contents of the curriculum, and create different teaching materials, e.g., audio pens, to assist NCS students to build a good foundation in Chinese learning. School circulars and Academic Reports for NCS students are translated into English to help their parents to understand the study of their children and improve communication between the school and the parents.
